Ratchet noise when coasting (videos)

So I searched through all the "noise" threads but haven't found anything similar to this.

I've got the ratcheting noise coming from the front passenger side of the car (seemingly) when coasting in gear at around 2.1k to 3.5k RPM.
This seems to be more prominent when the car is hot. And the noise is present with the car stationary revving to the rev range mentioned above.

Dealer wasn't much help in diagnosing this - do you guys have any clue what this might be?

Videos:
http://youtu.be/R_VyxZXreIE - you can really hear it around 0:15

Edit: car is stock apart from the Dieselgeek SS. 2010 GTI MT 50k miles

I have that same rattling from the passenger side as well. Hold down the sunglasses holder while you're driving, see if that helps. :)

It will dampen it, but I still hear rattling from the passenger side as well.

I think I have tried that but will give it another shot. Sounds kind of mechanical not like usual rattles..

One more. Come on guys any ideas at all? Buggin me out

Sorry- I listened to all 3 and couldn't hear anything, but I don't doubt that YOU hear something. I am going through something similar- that's how I stumbled across your thread. My rattle is PCV/Ignition/Fuel related though, definitely not from the interior- I'll trade you

I do have rattling from the center armrest when accelerating. Try pressing the armrest down to see if it's that. I just leave mine in a preset up position.

Honestly it doesn't sound like interior rattle, I tried holding the armrest, sunglasses holder, all kinds of trim, seats and seatbelts, even checked air vents.. It's very dependent on the RPMs and is present when stationary too
