IMO. I think the hitch set up is the best. Roof rack next best. Hitch might not fit if you have an aftermarket exh. As was my case when I went stg2.
I just installed a thule square bar system (had the rails from my saab days). Drove around without the fairing while waitng for the 44 inch'er to ship. The noise was LOUD starting at about 55mph. Once I got the fairing on it was a lot better.
Pros to roof rack vs carrying bike inside car. You get the whole inside of your car back for stuff that life brings (friends, family, errands). The performace hit sucks (noise, drag, fuel burn) but it is very convenient.
