R v.s WRX = not much of a story....

R v.s WSX STi = good story

:D

Still, comparing the R and STi, the R is a more refined automobile in every way for less money and IMHO, has more potential, dollar for dollar spent in aftermarket mods...

Uhh.. $1200 Hpfp, $2500 Tbe, $500 Intake, $600 reflash= $4800 for 310awhp for the R.
The STi $100 Walbro 255lph fp, $695 invidia catted dp, $1000 Greddy catback, $300 intake, $600 reflash = $2695 for 300awhp for a STi. Dollar for dollar I don't think so.

The only thing that seems a little expensive in your comparison is the turboback for the golf r. If you were to get one of equal quality for the sti i know its more than what you have listed. Even with that, Jap cars are easier to mod simply because the volume of people who mod.

A good stage 2 tune can get a wrx/sti to 300 awhp after spending far less than $2700.

Protune, we'll go high and say $700. Catless dp is a bit less than the catted. No need for a catback if you just want power. Boom, probably around 300 awhp if you want it for $1200 or so.

Who pays $1200 for a HPFP? $2500 TBE is mainly just for noise, the R stock unit has the valve to bypass the muffler. A $500 downpipe is all that is needed.

;)

These guys are dash molester's man, Coming from an older GD series STi the R isn't much more an improvement unless your seriously groping the shit out of your car. Also a stage 2 wrx/sti is a reflash and a TBE. The R should win since it should make about 10 more whp than the wrx.

You lost all credibility here if you seriously think a Golf R's interior isn't much of an improvement from a 2007 STI.

Right? The guy finds all the most expensive (and some unnecessary) parts for the R and then the exact prices sans shipping for the STI.

HPFP ($400), DP ($500) + Tune ($700 on sale w/ installation). We're talking $1600 for stage 2+ and I don't even own an R :iono:

Yeah I honestly don't find it much of an upgrade. Still a crap load of plastics and the thing you normally touch is the same soft touch crap but the places you eye ball is the difference.

I'm just stating retail prices and most people don't do the $400 self rebuild kit. I bought a brand new rebuild pump for far less. You might think a catback is unnecessary but it gets you that extra 5-8? hp.

Catback makes no additional power. Just sound.
