Does MDI cut power with ignition?

I have a question that hopefully somebody with the new 2010s could answer me.

For the MDI connection, does the power to your device turn off with the ignition.

For instance, I think I might just get a cheap ipod classic and put all my music on there. So if I just leave that plugged in all the time, will it stop charging when I turn off the car? I would hate for it to kill the battery from being on 24/7.

Thanks.

It keeps charging, but considering the voltage, I don't think an iPod is a battery killer.

yeah that's true. Once its charged it won't really draw anymore current.

mine the power cuts after the radio shuts off,

I plugged my iphone in almost dead (10% battery life) drove to work and left the phone plugged in in the car an it was still almost dead when I went to lunch, returned to work shut the car off, checked the phone quit charging, so I turned the radio on (press the power button it comes on for an hour) then when I got in my car after work my phone was almost 80% charged.
