If you don't need GPS, you can get a ballin detector refurbished from Escorts eBay store. I got a Bel RX65 for ~$200, which I LOVE. Its arguably got better range and Ka detection than the 9500ix.

if they are Cobb tuned (not pro tuned, just regular OTS maps) without meth/e85 you should be fine.
Jb4/proceed with meth and/or e85 and you'll probably see tail lights, but you'll probably still be able to read their license plate.
But who cares, no money is on it right? Win or lose it's all good fun and serves as a great benchmark for your car.
Best case scenario you surprise the fuck out of some stout cars. worse case you get beat by a car(s) with 1l, 2cyl, and 1 turbo on you.

thanks for this heads up, i bookmarked their store, would love to see a GPS enabled unit pop up, i had stupid false alerts and would love to have them auto muted.
Bel GX65. Difference between this one and the 9500ix is it doesn't auto learn. So you'll have to manually mute it (for good). It logs the GPS location just the 9500ix unit.
The 9500ix perm mutes a signal & location once it has passed the same alert 3x.

I also thought about the Bell pro 500.

Passport and Valentine are the two companies I would go with.

Yes, it does. The GX65 does NOT auto-learn though (unlike the 9500ix). You have to just tell it what you want muted forevs.
Escort makes Bel. It's like Lexus & Toyota.

as for weight, the 1 series may only have ~200-300lbs on you depending on weight reduction measures.
