Ok folks I was just wondering if the above sensor is for auto headlights, rain sensors or both? Also does anyone know if they are sold individually or as a package on the mk6 golf?

The sensor pictured is both a rain and light sensor.
The four diamonds shaped areas are one sensor type
and the two rectangles on the side are the other type.
Auto wipers use the same controls as standard wipers,
the non-auto intermittent position provides the auto function with the sensor
and the interval setting becomes auto wiper sensitivity setting.

Unless you mount it lower on the windshield than stock, it requires a new windshield. The sensor goes inside the frame for the rear view mirror (which is a rounded box shape) so its not compatible with the current mirror mount (the dot).

This is how i had mine mounted on the stock windshield:

have a rain sensor specific windshield:

Youll need the following things to make it work:
sensor
frame (unless you change the windshield)
auto-dim rear view mirror (or b8 passat mirror)
trim pieces around the mirror
auto light switch
wiring harness for sensor and mirror
coding

The black circle can be either scaped in the middle to allow the sensors to see through it or removed completely and mount it over that. But it just requires a little work to remove it. It's some type of paint that can come off.

Mounted lower than stock, is the rear view mirrors still functional?
How much time did it take for install?
