DSG S mode

Do you other TDI owners with DSG drive in " S " mode ?
I drive in D most of the time ... I only use " S " mode
when I was going down to santa cruze thru those tight
uphill roads...

How detrimental is " S " mode going to do to my MPG ?
In D mode I get 37-38 mpgs ....
while its ALOT more FUN  in S mode ...
do you folks think it'll drop me into the 27-28 mpg zone ?
:23: opinions

Revs way too high for me. I almost always drive in the manual mode.

I'd say the same, but clarify that it's when cruising at speed, not just during acceleration. Unless I'm on the highway, I'd expect cruising (non-accelerating) rpm's to be sub 2k. With S, it doesn't shift till way higher. I too drive most of the time in manual mode.

The S is nearly perfect for track/auto-cross use. That's what it's meant for, not cruising around... S is very aggressive for street use. ;)

With Stage II, S is always in the powerband, and it's quite addictive.

well ... I guess I now know the when to use S ...
so I guess I'll just go to manual mode / down shift to pass
a car rather than S mode ...

I think you have me confused with someone else. I drive a gasoline GTI.

Ahh the poster was asking questions in the TDI/GTD discussion I assumed you had a TDI my bad I was about to pick your brain and asked you who did the tune and if you had to do a dpf delete and what your numbers looked like.
