It's amazing.
LOL...can anything appropriately cool a car in Qatar? Do you ever turn on the heat?

I hope someone does this soon. I came close to attempting this on my MK5 Jetta, but the systems were all wrong. This would be great, and honestly it shouldnt throw codes. It would probably only give you your current function with a nicer look. It's worth a try!

I would definitely try this if someone buys the part and sends it to me, or if someone else tries it and it actually works (or throws soft codes in VCDS that don't interfere with HVAC).

If I didn't have all my funds tied into electric folding mirrors I'd be the guinea pig

Yup! Pretty much most of the Euro side mirrors have the puddle lights on them. I have yet to see an electric folding mirror that doesn't have them.

Of course! It will take me a little while though. In the mean time I bought this switch (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Chrome-Knob-...ht_1117wt_1185) to install so that the little white line on the dial actually points to the mirror defrost button (2 o'clock) when I use it, instead of straight up at Nothing

I miss having this and puddle lamps! I did this with my old 330i. Cost was around $450 for the painted folding mirrors. New, but aftermarket with full function. How much is this going to run, if you dont mind me asking?
