So my #2 piston is chewed up, looking into another motor, but it seems like everywhere i call there asking upwards of 2k USD for just the longblock with no accessories... are these prices true? or am i getting taxed??

Seems high. Have you tried looking online...LKQ? I see some higher mileage engines for $1300. lkqonline.com
If the block is not too bad, you could hone and get pistons much cheaper.

i have a buddy thats going to look through his dealer since they buy motors from lkq, he could probably get it for cheaper if anything

I’m seeing anything from $1300 to $2300 online depending on mileage. Disappointing to see one more 2.0 TSI engine pop after only 6 years.
