Fiesta ST vs GTI

Ready to race!
Just some results and pics from an MI autoX. A number of the Fiesta movement members with an ST put top finish times. Even beating a Focus ST and 2012 GTI in the GS (stock) class. Per poster both winning BMW models had better tires (star specs & another type). ST times were near or beating some more powerful yet less agile vehicles as well like Challenger or Grand Cherokee SRT.

man the fiesta st is so ugly

i like the focus a lot more. JC seemed to like the fiesta a lot though.

Watching last weeks Top Gear makes me wanna go test drive one. Too bad they don't have the Ford challenge thing or whatever it is around me.

+1 they look hideous. They do perform well though but that is probably because it is such a lightweight little car.

+1 that fiesta is nauseating. The focus is only marginally better. At least the interior on that fiesta is less obnoxious than the "screamin' tangerine" orange colored focus that C+D ran against the GTI in their comparo.

those seats are leather recaros. if they wipe them down with a good leather cleaner/conditioner every once in a while those seats will last longer than our cloth seats.

as for the rest of the plastic bits, i have no idea how long they will last.

I guess I meant the glowing orange ones in the focus, with about 50,000 stitches cross stitched in that diamond pattern over the seats. Maybe I was more just hoping something would come along and kill it with fire..

I feel the same way. the focus intrigues me now as well.

Well, I'm the driver of the Gray GTI. In my defense, it was only my second autocross event!

I was out working the course while the Challenger and Cherokee SRT were running, and it seemed to me like the driver of the Challenger was new to the car and/or auto-cross. His first couple runs were fairly conservative, and he progressively got a little aggressive in subsequent runs. I wouldn't put much credit into the comparison to the Fiesta ST for this reason, since those guys definitely knew what they were doing.

It blew my mind to see the Cherokee SRT run. I didn't expect such a behemoth to be capable of what it was. One run they even squeezed in three passengers. It was fairly absurd.

I love the Cherokee SRT8, but for that price??? I'll take a CTS-V wagon
