once again, people comparing wrong cars vs wrong cars.

As Max said, v6 vs v6. The new 3.8 is a beast.

And to add to that i starts at 24,250 and includes features the GTI doesn't have at that price.

Steering wheel controls
Auto Headlights

Pick any model and compare side by side with GTI and the Genesis has more features and a lower price.

It's def a car to be cross shopped when looking for performance under 30k.

My younger brother has a 2011 genesis coupe. 3.8 r-spec. You would think with the displacement it would have a decent low end pull. It doesn't. Good power up top but you have to wring the motor for power. My MKVI GTI with APR 1 pulls him in every gear.

You don't compare v6 to v6 you compare by price. That 3.8 has to compete with the 5.0 mustang (and fails IMO).
Genesis starts at 28,750 with the 3.8 comes with the brembos, lsd, bluetooth, and 19" wheels.

2013 Mustang V6 premium with performance package, is 29,685 and it doesn't have brembos or LSD.

Motortrend disagreed before the car got a better interior/exterior and engine.

Apples to oranges, modified GTI vs stock old engined Genesis. The new one has +50 HP and +30 torque.

The 2.0T Genesis is supposed to compare with the V6 Mustang. Similar power and MPG....dimensionally they arent that different neither....

You can't be serious  And the V6 is supposed to compare to the V8? That doesn't make any sense.

gen 2.0t vs the focus st? IDK, Ford doesn't really have anything on the field of the gen 2.0t.

I work for Hyundai, so I'm biased. Though I will admit I could have stolen a last generation coupe, but hell no. The new ones though, I'm kinda falling for them fast. 3.8 Rspec, potentially supercharge it... nomnomnom.

When you get a flat, try to find your spare in many Hyundai, all you find is only a sealant and compressor! Pray to god that you didn't demage your sidewall.
They won't listed on window sticker, and sales person wont' tell.

What's there to be surprised about? The 4 is rated at 21/31, V6 stang is 19/31. The biggest dimensional difference is overall length, where the stang is longer by 6". Width, height, track, curb weight are all in the same ballpark. Genesis is actually 4" longer in wheelbase.....

If you will crossshop a fwd hothatch with a 2door sports coupe, you can be sure as hell you'll cross shop the mustang....

V8 maybe not so much, since a 5.0 will destroy a 3.8....

Because the V6 Genesis is priced the same as the mustang when equally equipped and its faster and comes with LSD, and better brakes. Yet you insist on comparing it with the turbo 4.

To compare, because I/L is frequently VERY slow in their figures for all cars...

ALL from Motor Trend

Mustang V8 Track Pack - From $33,490 - 412 hp - 17/26 mpg
0-60 - 4.4 sec.
1/4 mile - 12.7 sec. @ 111.6 mph

'13 Gen Coupe 3.8 Track - From $33,000 - 348 hp - 18/27 mpg
0-60 - 5.2 sec.
1/4 mile - 13.9 sec. @ 102.2 mph

Ford Mustang V6 Performance Pack - From $24,990 - 305 hp - 21/30 mpg

1/4 mile - 14.2 sec. @ 98.4 mph
60-0 - 111 ft.
Lateral Accel - 0.97 g
MT Figure-8 - 25.5 sec. @ 0.69 g (avg.)

GTI DSG - From $25,095 - 200 hp - 24/33 mpg
0-60 - 5.8 sec.
1/4 mile - 14.5 sec. @ 96.7 mph
60-0 - 113 ft.
Lateral Accel - 0.91 g
MT Figure-8 - 26.5 sec. @ 0.67 g (avg).

** Keep in mind the two Gen Coupes AND two Mustangs tested here were the highest performance variants for each engine option. What that means is they all four had 19" summer tires AND Brembo brakes. The GTI had 18" summer tires and VW-Spec brakes, and an Automatic too...

I think our little GTI does quite well all things considered against a Gen Coupe 2.0T...

And the Gen Coupe still doesn't seem to do that well at any level compared to what a Mustang does for thousands less...

The next gen global Mustang due out in 2014/2015 is rumored to have a 4-cylidner Ecoboost motor in the base form.

Conservative Estimates;
Appx. 240-260hp 2.0L Ecoboost Mustang
Appx. 320hp 3.7L V6 Mustang
Appx. 420hp 5.0L V8 Mustang

Optimistic, but possible, Estimates;

Appx. 240-260hp 2.0L Ecoboost Mustang
Appx. 340-360hp 3.5L Ecoboost V6 Mustang
Appx. 450hp 5.0L V8 Mustang (motor from the Boss 302 to become base GT motor)

I could see them reasonably shooting for a 250hp 2.0T, 350hp 3.5T, and 450hp 5.0L V8.

And in any event, I have heard it is going to be smaller and lighter too...

The Mustang is ONLY going to get better and faster from here on out. And it is already quite good and very fast.

Please show me how a mustang is cheaper?! Comparably equipped it is more money than the genesis.

Do you read??

Mustang V6 Performance Pack - From $24,990 - 305hp - 0-60 in 5.3
Gen Coupe 2.0T R-Spec - From $26,500 - 274hp - 0-60 in 5.7
Gen Coupe 3.8 R-Spec - From $28,750 - 348hp - 0-60 in 5.2

The Mustang V6 is $1,500 less than a Gen Coupe 2.0T AND performs better...
The Mustang V6 is nearly $4,000 less than a Gen Coupe 3.8 and performs nearly identical...

And Mustang V8 is priced similarly to a Gen Coupe 3.8 but of course performs MUCH better in every way...
