Smile EA189 - EGR problem

Ok, so Iíve had some recent issues with my EGR on my 1.6tdi since having the new software from VW over the emmisions issue.
All started when the glowplug light came on flashing and put me into limp mode.

Instead of repairing or replacing Iíve decided to delete it and remap the ECU via a reputable company in Liverpool.
Has anyone else done this to get rid of the issues caused by the EA189 software update after the emmisions scandal?
Also, Iím looking at deleting the DPF at the same time. Is this a good move?
Pros and cons, but also, once the DPF has been deleted Iíve been told to remove it, Iíd like to know why?
Do I need to remove the EGR after the remap too then?
Not the best with engines.
