Smells like a Golf?

Really nasty burning smell from the front end of my 2009 GTI Mk 6 any one experienced similar?

Posted in the wrong section, but aside from that I've had on only 2 occasions the smell of burnt rubber from the engine compartment, but the time difference between the two times I've smelt it was rather long and haven't smelt it in months... sorry for the jack :P, any suggestions?

And back on topic, what type of smell is it, aside from the two listed above is it like burnt rubber?

This happened to me once. It was after a short 1-2km run and a really bad smell started to get into the cabin from the front end. It smelled like a chemical / plastic smell.

I also had that burning chemical/tire smell once. Started when I first turned the ignition on then went away after about 5 minutes while driving on the highway.

I smell it as well. It's like a chemical scent. Smells like windshield-washer fluid but it's inside the car. I dunno what it is... but I dislike it!

I have smelled something like this before, and I wrote it off to the fact that I have just got on it hard, plus with the transmission shifting, then parked it and got out. So I think the transmission or turbo was off-gassing the newness somewhat.
