Warning for those with DriverGear springs

Just a heads up for those with DG springs.

Had these on my GTI for 3 years and heard a metal on metal sound on my way home from work yesterday. The spring cracked at the bottom and nearly dislodged from the strut as shown in the second picture.

I will be returning back to stock springs.

Sorry to hear this happened to you. Maybe a case of bad luck?

FWIW, I've had my DG springs on for 7yrs/150k miles, and I've tracked the car numerous times. No problems on my end. Hopefully it stays that way .

Perhaps, although I'm sure the lowered ride height didn't help.

Happened to me on my first set. Next set has been ok.

Good public service announcement though!
