Do I have a Wolfsburg edition????

Hi everyone. I just brought home a brand new 2013 GTI yesterday and love it. However, I am a bit confused. Supposedly I purchased the Wolfsburg edition based on the sticker sheet on the car. It has the golf ball shift knob, red-stitch car mats and seat belts, and leather wrapped steering wheel with red trim and controls. Those all scream Wolfsburg edition.

The part I'm confused about is that the wheels are not the Laguna style ones (they are the signature Detroit style), and the seats all the Top Sport leather (like the Driver's Edition).

So is this a Wolfsburg? Is it a Driver's Edition? Is it a base GTI with lots of options? Does anyone know if the Top Sport leather seats are available on GTI's that are NOT the Driver's Edition?

Do all 2013 GTI Wolfsburg's have to have the "Wolfsburg Edition" plaque near the front door of the car on the exterior?

thanks!!!!

Red belts, red lined mats, and leather points to Driver's Edition, honestly.

Does it have bi-xenon headlights?

Your window sticker should outline everything that should be on the car, though.

But there's no moonroof and navigation system. Aren't those stock on the DE?

If it helps, my DE came with Moonroof and Navi.

Yep.

Maybe your car got a weird mix of parts?

What does your window sticker say?

Window sticker calls it a Wolfsburg. Maybe they had one that instead of having the Laguna wheels on it they slapped in the leather interior instead? The leather seats was the major draw for me in choosing this GTI off the lot anyways.

I have a feeling your dealer swapped out the wheels and added aftermarket leather.

Do your headrests look like this:

Or this:

Looks exactly like picture #2, all leather with "GTI" written on the headrest.

Do you know if all Wolfsburg's have to have the metal plaque label on the outside of the car?

I've never seen a plaque on the MK6 Wolfsburg GTIs.

Your car certainly has an interesting mix of parts.

Yea, no plaques in US.

Does the sticker list leather as an option? Is it possible it was special ordered like this? The wheels were probably swapped at the dealer. Before I got my car, I almost had a dealer convinced to swap wheels with a Driver's Edition and base model since I wanted a base with Lagunas. Found a car private party before I closed the deal with the dealer.

This is very strange. Sounds like a wheel swap at the dealership to me. If your sticker says Laguna's go back and get the Laguna's. They cost more than Detroits and imo they look better. (I have them) Also - BOTH editions come with Laguna's if your check VW.com. The differences are other options like bi-xenon vs. halogen and leather vs. cloth seats. The red accents, steering wheel, etc are standard on all GTI models and the 35 Edition golf ball knob is pretty standard as well on 2013 models. Sounds like the dealership wanted to give a little TLC to a trade in to boost the value of another car.... my 2 cents.

The red-edged seatbelts and floormats point to a DE or Wolfsburg, though.

I don't think a dealer would go through the efforts of swapping out seatbelts in the effort of putting lipstick on a car to sell it.

Go over your window sticker with a fine-tooth comb.

The car doesn't have the Lagunas, nav, or a sunroof, but has leather, golf-ball knob, the red-edged mats and seatbelts, and the window sticker actually says 'Wolfsburg Edition' on it.
