Hankook iPike's
225/45/17
12k on them (they're a 40,000 mile tire though)

8-9/32" tread on them...VERY meaty still!

Anyone tinted their MK6? I know we have a law here forbidding the front door window tint, but I've seen so many cars around with tinted window it makes me want to do it too....whats a good tint shop in the Oakland County area? And what % of tint you guys think will be somewhat inconspicuous to the cops?

I'm interested in this too...

I'm thinking Ziebart, I've read a few good things. Maybe 35%?

Guys from MIVW mentioned these 2 shops to me:
http://www.sunshadewindowtint.com/

http://www.notorioustintz.com/

The 2nd one you can request for quote online which is what I did. The first is minutes from where I work so I'll probably drop by to check it out...

Front windows only: I had good luck with 35% in the past but went with 50% for safety. 20% resulted in tickets.

On my 2 door, I had 20% in the rear & 35% on the driver & passenger side windows...never had an issue in 2 years when I had it

The GTI has the all black headliner...so that makes the tint look even darker (with a dark background).
Also, having a black car (like you do)....that can make the tint look darker for whatever reason

And if you go really dark in the back....from the wrong angle (like a cop going the opposite direction)....that can make your side windows look even darker

I'm not gonna lie....I got pulled over with my 4 door and I had the same style tint as my 2 door
20% in the back & 35% on the sides....Livonia PD...going the opposite way than me on 7 mile road at 8am.

She just gave me a warning...no ticket or take it off or anything....other than that no issues

The 4 door was Carbon Steel Gray (darker color) and my 2 door was United Gray (a lighter color)
never an issue with the 2 door though

Do you have a pic of the 35%/20% combo? Wondering how that looks...I was thinking to be safe going maybe 50% or 35% all around

Posted pics on MIVE, lol

50% is toooo light

35% all the way around will look great and you shouldn't have any issues.

That's what I plan doing with my CC....30% or 35% all the way around....not too dark & it'll look uniform
