Air con not working

This is my first post so apologies if it's in the wrong forum. Hopefully you all can help me with this!

The air con isn't working on my mk6 Golf 2.0 GT TDI, but I want to be certain of the problem before I go changing the compressor.
With the engine running, I click the AC button and the light comes on. However, I don't hear a 'click' like I'm meant to and there is no change in revs, outside air just comes through the vents.
Before doing any scans, I decided to change the pressure switch as I know this is a common fault, but this still didn't fix it. I was hoping it just needed a fault to be cleared and all would be good but I've just had my engine scanned and there's no fault found.
My vehicle is completely free of faults, even the air con sensors and compressor speeds all read as 'normal' and 'ok'.

I've got a feeling it's going to be the air con pump but I'm not certain.

Has anyone else had similar problems and do you recommend I just go ahead with changing the compressor?

Thanks in advance!

If it's giving no cool air at all it is likely that the compressor isn't working. Did it stop working all of a sudden or did it slowly die?

Have you considered purchasing a manifold gauge set and checking the high and low side pressures?

The annoying thing is I bought the car like it, so I don't know..
I've got someone looking at it tomorrow so hopefully they will make that check too.

Thanks for the help.

my ac had/has a slow leak. I took it to my VW dealer to diagnose it because i thought it was the compressor too but they said the freon was really low, but they could not find a leak with pressure or dye test. So they had me leave and come back about 3 weeks later to see if the dye would show up.. There was no dye visable anywhere and they weighed it and they said it came back at the same weight they put in.

So they concluded i had/have had a very small slow leak over the course of a few years and that unless i want to spend the money on replacing the whole ac system (because they do not know where the leak is coming from we would have to replace it all) to basically just let it ride and see what happens.
That was about 6 months ago and my AC is still blowing cold.

Hi, Harry! You're writing about a car, so everything is fine. As for the air conditioner in the vehicle and your problem, I can say that you need to check your radiator. Perhaps because you do not regularly clean it, it will become dirty and thus work poorly. And this also affects the electronics; there is a failure. You should find specialists who will thoroughly check your air conditioner; perhaps you will not need to change the compressor. Now it is costly on the market. Suppose it's all about a dirty radiator. In that case, you just need to contact the air conditioner cleaning service, as I did, and everything will be fine!
