Fuel issue

Hi all. i've had an issue with my GTI that happened not that long ago, i was driving down the motorway and the car started running rough and stank of fuel, it eventually cut out and wouldn't restart but smelt as if it was overfuelling.
after being recovered and letting the car cool down it started back up and the fuel smell went away.

Wondering if this has happened to anyone or if anyone has any advise of where to look. i've been told it could be any of the following... fuel rail pressure sensor, HPFP, LPFP, Fuel regulator and pump control module but don't want to start throwing parts and money at it trying to fix it.

2 Codes came up

P0087 - Fuel rail pressure too low
P119A - Fuel pressure sensor malfunction

Thanks in advance :)

Sounds like it could be the sensor if it has its own code. I would think if its just the fuel rail pressure it would be pump related but since you got the code about the sensor maybe try changing that first as thats probably the cheapest of all options.
