VW mechanic GTA

Hey guys.

So I am a little un-sure on how to take a part my car to do this whole map sensor pcv thing. When I spoke with the dealer they told me I have to change the MAP sensor and valve cover possibly the intake manifold and update my ECU to newest firmware. So rather than rack my brains on this I would rather just take it somewhere to get it fixed. Any recommendations for a decent VW shop with reasonable rates? Or if anyone knows how to do the work and is looking for some extra cash to make? Let me know

Thanks

There is no way you should have to replace all that. You can actually just replace the pcv without the whole valve cover. If I was in your neck of the woods I would help you out. I would not let whoever told you all that work on your car.

Was a service adviser at Pickering Volkswagen. I remember you saying that I could get just the diaphragm part of the pcv, I'm just going by what they told me when I asked if they can update my ECU.

Nathan, seems like we are at a bit of a delema, there is TSB that covers the MAP sensor/oil issue for the later 2.5s but only the Dealer would be able to tell you if your car is covered. OR Since the MAP Sensor is relatively cheap you can replace the MAP sensor yourself and if the error goes away you'd be good for a while, you can give it a clean next time it comes back.

Whats TSB? Like VW would cover it? With my luck thats not going to happen. I can give a call to the dealer I got it from(Don Valley VW) see if they can help. I live in Ajax v1nn1e. I have the next 2 weeks off for parental leave, just had my first son. So wanting to get this done in that time hopefully.

Technical Service Bulletin. But they will still charge you to diagnose it. They tried to pull that when I bought my map sensor at the dealer. Oh we'll fix it for free....if you pay us 120 bucks.

If you want, you can drive to K&H radiators on St Claire & Kennedy in Scarborough and talk to Mario.

I know where that is, I used to know the guys at Car-Aid that were right beside K&H. Maybe I'll swing over there next week.

I just called the dealer I got the car from (Don Valley VW). They told me they are calling me back with a price. They said its not covered, they also just did this to a Tiguan last week. When the lady calls back ill post what she said.

From the dealer that is about right. I paid $70 but they screwed up the price and it was supposed to be $90 something they said
