Trans dropped today. New OEM clutch being installed for free due to TSB for clutch groan. I tried getting them to install an aftermarket clutch kit or disc for me, but they refused twice: warranty fraud.

An interesting bit about the stock clutch. I got tuned at around 12-13k, slipped the same day of the tune. It had just started to snow when I was leaving--so cold temperatures were affecting it.

The whole winter, it would slip if I tried going near WOT. I took it easy for the whole winter. Once it warmed up, I got on it, and zero slip. Sweet!

I ran a Dodge Challenger one day, twice, back to back, (won the second one fwiw) and the next day, my clutch was slipping again. I babied it for a while, and it stopped slipping. I believe you can bed these clutches to have better grip. I think the key to it is minimal slipping of the clutch, and making sure you're not putting the clutch/motor under high load unnecessarily (low rpm, high speed).

I will upload a pic of my stock clutch. Like Bowers, my stock clutch looks great. No signs of glazing/hot spots/marks. It looks perfectly fine. I will have to look into either doing a full kit or the drop in. It will come down to price for me personally: what/how much am I willing to spend? How much do I value a lightened flywheel? Is it worth ~$700 premium over the disc?

New OEM clutch feel is heavier than before. I am guessing that is due to the new pressure plate. I'm sure it will get less and less over time until its back to the way it was before.

Ok, so fast forward a few days, the pressure plate backed off the flywheel and now I need a whole new transmission: clutch, flywheel, pressure plate, TOB. At least its all covered under warranty. I miss the GTI.
