Rebadged Grill GTI with Red Ebay Letters...

knowing that the $12 red ebay letters are a bit smaller than the OEM, the $60 OEM red ones with the rabbit were a bit pricey so i figured i'd run a $12 experiment - i'm happy with the result.

here it is with the OEM letters removed, just the plate - thankfully there are guide circles left, they helped position the rebadging. came off with fishing line, remaining double-sided tape came off easy...

and here it is installed, works out AOK, don't mind the "black border"

Man I was just looking at those last night and thinking the same thing.
Want to do it front and back myself.
Great job and thanks for the photos.

could you take a pic of the whole grill from a little further away? to get the whole effect?

it looks great from what I can tell, esp with what you did to the VW logo!

Just ordered this off of ebay for $9 USD

I'm going to try out the black to give it a more inconspicuous look, especially since I have a stock VW badge.

I'll post pics as soon as I receive it and put it on.

Looks great!

Curious to see the black version though!

Are these just vinyl overlays, or are they the complete letters/emblem?

thanks for the complements...

Is that metal or plastic?
plastic, as are the original letters...

How hard was it to do the VW Emblem? Mines color matched black

Yep, complete badges with a crome-looking outer and a black painted inlay, all in one piece.

I looked hard for those on Ebay. Out of about 200 red badges, I found two sets of black badges--the other was with a rabbit logo and came out to a little more than $20. I wasn't going to put on the rabbit anyway, so thought, "why buy it?" :p

The OP says his rebadge was a bit smaller than the original ones, so I also looked at the size. The black badge I ordered is .95" in height--about the same height as the original, so hopefully they fit! I'm just waiting on delivery :mad0259:

Damn that looks nice. Since they are smaller maybe just take off the whole backing and make your own so you can space them closer together. Home depo sheet metal would work. Easy to cut and place for about a buck.
