I got a chance to beta test the new Lytro camera and I took a quick shot that I thought the forums would enjoy. I am waiting for my car to be less stock to take some more, but expect a full on picture thread by the end of the month featuring shots from my assortment of equipment (I am a professional photographer.)

Wow, consider my mind blown.

A new future of digital photography right there. I must admit, I like selecting the focus for my viewer to focus on, but I could see how this little thing will take off.

Very cool! I read about this technology a few months ago. Link worked for me on the iPad.

It's really a cool technology, but the inability to edit the photo after it's taken (crop, levels, curves, color, etc.) is definitely a hindrance. Plus, you need to take a photo with something within 10" of the front element along with something in the background so you can play with it. It's a pretty expensive toy at this point, but I am sure it will become more useful as they develop the software for it.
