Cam ladder needs replacing?

Just got off the phone with my shop and they said my cam ladder needs to be replaced at the tune of $1470. Anyone heard of this before? Does any of this sound right?

Any more details on this? Any explanation why the replacement was needed? What symptoms did the car exhibit?

There's a fair amount of oil leaking, which apparently is normal for high mileage cars that have been tuned for a long time since the boost is basically doubled from stock. I ended up finding someone else to just reseal the cam cover for much less. Having it done in a couple weeks.
