Electrical issues anyone?

So last week I was on my way to work, about 5 miles into my drive and my 2011 GTI quit on me. I was literally driving, car slowed in front of me to turn left, downshifted to 3rd and hit the gas and the car didnt accelerate. Down shifted to 2nd and hit it to the floor and nothing. It rolls to a stop and the engine cuts off. I turn off the car completely and try to start it again, it turns over but will not start. I call for a tow and get it towed to my local shop. I realized I still fall under the CPO warranty AFTER I got it towed to the local shop so I told them to just take a look at the battery and alternator. Tech said that both are fine and he thinks its something electrical. Called Geico again and thankfully they gave me another free tow to my VW dealership (some 30 miles away).

A day and a half later, one of their "techs" decides that he thinks the issue lies within the hard wiring of my Escort 8500 x50 radar detector (done by myself and my mechanic brother in law) seeing as that is the ONLY thing done aftermarket on the car. Typical dealership cop out...They unplug it and recommend full removal. I went to fight it (the $300 bill they tried to slap on me for labor) that night and the tech and service rep were not there anymore and I was told to come back tomorrow to discuss. I wake up to go to work and this time about 4 miles into my trip, the EXACT same thing happens. I get the tow to the VW dealership again and receive a call later that day to scrap the bill and I owe them nothing, something bigger is going on.

It has been there a week now and I call every day and they keep telling me that they KNOW that there is an issue, but they cannot get it to happen again. A tech has been driving my car to and from work with the laptop hooked into it so when it acts up they can do their thing, but apparently that hasnt happened yet.

Side note: I had a mini electrical issue with my steering wheel months back (lost all lights and controls to my steering wheel) and a part inside the steering wheel or column needed to be replaced. Since this is my second service of this 'car quitting' problem, plus the other issue, I am thinking they refuse to give it back to me because of the NYS Lemon Law (serviced 4 or more times with related issues AND under 18K miles of when purchased, they must provide full refund or comparable car).

Side note 2: My 12V/cigarette lighter, whatever you want to call it, stopped working. I havent tried to use it in awhile but noticed right before this it wasnt working and the last time I KNOW it worked was probably 3 months ago. To go along with that, one of the horns went out. Everytime I honk the horn, it is a VERY high pitch horn (assuming it has 1 high pitch horn and 1 low pitch horn, making the sound we all know...Must be the low pitch one blew?)

Now with all of that out there, what do you guys think? Do I have a Lemon on my hands? Do you think these all could be related? It really is hard to say. Car was bought last August and NEVER had an issue until now.

Wow Strange, Could be a bad ECU maybe the ECU has a fault. I bet the Dealer replaces the ECU under warranty.

Since its intermittant, its tough to diagnose. Anytime you hack into the OEM hot leads for power for aftermarket stuff, amps, anything, and if you have a super sensitive ECU like the VW has it just seems possible the ECU is just going bonkers.

Without seeing the car, or anything. My guess is a bad ECU.

lemons have more to do with safety issues. air bag sensors/faults, brakes, etc

Well, to me this IS a safety issue...The car shutting down while driving at 40+ MPH seems to be a big issue, that is why it could be a lemon, in my opinion.
