Had a bit of experience with the previous gen plus.
In some ways its more like a Golf Minus because it looks worse and has a very plasticy cabin. This can be seen in the residual values, as the equiv plus is £1000-£1500 cheaper on the used market than a normal golf. According to some VW dealers its one of the hardest cars to shift.
On the flip side of the coin, it offers more headroom, and the choice of limo like rear legroom or a merc e-class sized boot thanks to the sliding rear seats. A good car for tall people or those who regularly carry a lot but other than that its difficult to see the advantage. It really is just a golf, a little bigger.
The press photos are very decieving, as the actual trendline and conforltline plus' we will soon see on the road are very ugly with small wheels, lots of plastic trim and grey roof rails.
