Hey everyone! Just got my first VW 2011 Black GTI 4dr DSG and it's awesome:thumbup:
Previously drove a 2003 Honda Accord and it's amazing how much more fun driving is in the GTI.

I find myself taking the scenic/longer route when driving home now because I don't want to get out.

Hello.

Just found your boards from a reference on myturbodiesel.

Owner of a 2010 Golf TDI that I bought in June this year, unfortunately it just spent six days in the shop with only seven thousand miles on it. Had the DPF and EGR filters replaced because of an engine light.

I figured I would be on as many VW boards related to this model so I know ahead of time of what goes wrong and how often. I am hoping to find reasons to keep it past the warranty period.

Hello from New Joisey.

Hey all..
Just picked up my Black 2door automatic GTI and it's great to have found this site! I've spent every free second catching up on all to learn here. Still getting the hang of this car but liking what I'm feeling so far.
I had one of the first New Beetles and man has VW come along way since then.
Looking forward to the next few years with my new dub.

Greetings to Golf & GTI Owners (and Wannabe's Too)

Hi All. You can tell I'm an enthusiast because I presently drive a gray 98 Ford Escort. I can explain everything! Actually I hadn't owned any cars for a great many years. There were company cars in Alaska and then motorcycles (presently a Honda st1300) down here in Florida for the last ten years while I took care of my aging, now late, mother. So I inherited her 98 Escort about a year ago. And her house which, as soon as it sells, will pay for a a new GTI. I really researched the various cars and kept coming back to the GTI which strangely seems to be exactly what I want. Except that, the way they've got it set up, I'd have to buy a car load of junk I don't want in order to get the leather seats. Which is drag. Anyway, I see myself in a blue two-door, manual with a rack on top. Hopefully soon! Best Regards, Ralph.

Back in the VW Fold

Hi everyone.

I've just joined this forum and I've just ordered my 2011 GTI, Autobahn, 4 door, stick, carbon grey & a set of snow wheels from TireRack. My GTI should arrive early December 2010 and I'm chomping at the proverbial bit to get my hands on the car.

I've owned many VW's over the years...86 Golf (1st new car I ever bought), 96 VR6 Jetta, 2003 Jetta (bought from a family member). During the past few years, I've been driving a 2005 Subaru Outback but I've been itching to return to the VW/Audi fold.

I seriously considered getting an Audi A3 or an A4 but when I drove the 2011 GTI, all those thoughts fell by the wayside. The GTI was a superior driving experience and the cockpit/cabin interior was much more to my liking than the Audis.

Another thing which sold me on the GTI was the electronics package. I have an iPhone and use it for pretty much all my audio entertainment and the fact that VW's come with Bluetooth A2DP across the board was a huge selling point for me. On the A3/A4, you have to purchase additional equipment and go up to the "Premium Plus" package to approximate equivalent functionality. Hence, the GTI was an easy choice once I found out how to solve the snow issue with a second set of wheels.

I took delivery on December 3rd and I couldn't be happier. Here are some pics.

Let's Autocross!
I really liked the new 2010 GTI when I saw that model come out. I owned a 2003 Mini Cooper which I autocrossed. Due to severe transmission problems with the Mini (Second one failed at 115,000) I was considering purchasing a new Mini "S". But my disappointment in the BMW product led me to look at several options. I was also considering Subie's Mazada's and Nissans. A good friend who autocrossed with me and worked at a local VW dealer called me about a person who had bought a 2011 GTI and turned it back into the dealer only after 3800 miles because he did not like the clutch and shift. He got an automatic Jetta. This car was a deal I could not let get away.It was prcactically brand new. It was also loaded with everything except navigation. I drove it and was sold. Im very impressed and look forward to autocrossing it in the new year and beat some of my Mini buddies. Derek Blanton
