Help! Car went into limp mode after REVO stage 1 tune.

Hey guys,

I just got REVO stage 1 flashed along with DSG software yesterday and drove about 100 miles with no issue since then. Today, car got EPC and blinking CEL lights came on all of sudden and rough idle with no power. This happened right after hard lauch with WOT. I searched and found similar to my symptom that it could be bad coil packs and/or spark plugs. My car just hit 70k miles and I just got the car so I don't know when coils and plugs were replaced. Any thoughts?

Take the plastic engine shroud off and see what color the heads of the coils are. If they are not red, replace them.

Chances are you will need properly gapped plugs. A blinking CEL normally indicates misfires.

Sounds like a blown coil pack. Order some R8 ones and you'll be good to go.

Likely this.

I'd suggest getting new plugs at the same time. Go to Revos site and see what they suggest for Stage 1 cars.

Thanks guys! The problem is that I need to drive home tonight about 30 miles. Should I tow my car or it's ok to drive with this? Car can go up to 50 mph but very slowly. I have AAA but it will be pain calling/waiting flat bad on new year's day. :(

That sounds like coil packs then. Probably not plugs. If it was plugs, you would see the misfires and issues only at higher RPMs.

Regardless, replace coil packs and plugs.

Oh, and it's safe to drive for now.

I'm about to order this now. Are these good to go?

And car also vibrates little when applying the gas pedal. Still ok to drive?

Thanks.

Vibrating with the gas is more than likely one coil pack being completely bad. It's not "okay" to drive. You CAN drive it a short distance home to park it. Do not buy those, you can save a little from Amazon and access to free 2 day or next day air shipping.

Order from Amazon here. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B008QXZ5UI/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1420160044&sr=8-1

If you need plugs, these are the ones that come in the ECS tuning package but I would go to 7 heat range plugs for stage 1, not step 8..

Here are the 7 heat range plugs I use, even with k04. They are fantastic.

You can also sign up for Amazon prime if you're a student for free. You can get them next day air for like 3 bucks. Or free 2 day delivery on a Saturday.

80 dollars for 4.
