So I just finished (I thought) adding an aftermarket reverse cam to my 12 GTI. I have a Pioneer AVH4800 headunit that comes reverse cam ready.
So I got everything installed...tapped the black/blue wire up under the rear quarter window for reverse "signal" and power for the cam when in reverse, grounded to common ground back there as well, and ran the composite / trigger cable and connected to headunit.
So I tested with ignition on but WITHOUT the motor running and it works beautifully. Throw it in reverse and the cam displays automatically.
Put everything back together - tested again the same way and all is well.
UNTIL I put it in reverse with the engine RUNNING. Then the picture becomes scrambled black/gray lines.
Turn the motor off and go back to acc without motor on and works great....
WTF? Why would the motor running matter?
