takata Airbags and VW

i see that the nhsta has put the 2010-2014 golf on it's list of cars that have takata bags in them and for recall (i'm assuming gti, as well, [tho they are not specifically mentioned] as it's a golf underneath it all). When contacting VW, i am told no VWs are being recalled.
who to believe and how to prove it? opinions?
