Nope, just practice...

Anyway, did they give you an invoice? Is the cabin filter part # on it?

I already took mine out before to inspect for shavings. It takes 5 min tops, but prepare for a bit of a diesel bath.

What about DSG flush yourself? Its basically a slow oil change.

Yep going to do it... I was worried about getting my warranty voided but I don't think I give a Fk anymore the transmission seems pretty solid. I doubt it will fail from 40-60k so it is a bit of a moot point.

I just got to figure out the cheapest way to source all the necessary parts. It'll be the first time I'll be maintaining my car.

Been a busy month for me in the last month .... Here are the cars I worked on

2001 Jetta
Manual Tranmission Fluid change
Brake Bleed
Air filter change
Fixed a PCV hose

2009 TSX
Transmission fluid change
Brake fluid flush
cabin air filter change
air filter change

2001 M3
Brake fluid change
Front wheel bearing replacement
Checked on filters (all good)

now in the next few weeks, I'll have to work on my dads car.
Radiator replacement/fluid flush
Trans fluid flush
Oil change/air filter change

:yikes:

I'm a fking resident mechanic

Its really an easy job. There's not much to really screw things up except not filling it lol.

I like the location of the filter! In order to change the filter in my dads car I need to remove 12 screws and a transmission pan. And then juggle it above my head while it is full of 5 quarts of fluid and try not to take a bath in that crap. Thankfully I have a vacuum extractor now so it is much easier.

Max, you should start by asking your dealer why they are charging you for something that should have been done by them in your free 30K service.

Brake Flush is included in the 30K service as a no charge item; so (assuming you got your free service there) they are double-charging you.

yep it was done at 30k, that said even with that taken out it is so far off the realm of what I am willing to pay for this that I am not even going to bother.

If the service was 300-400$ i'd consider it. At over $500 it is royal rape.

Absolutely; did my own 40K as well.

Though I do 10K services every 3 months so I'd be dead broke if I kept paying for them... :D

Just did my 40k myself on my 12 GTI. Still cost $480, but was VERY easy and I found it fun!

Why was it $480 did you buy that "DSG fill tool" that costs the exorbitant $150

GTI service is even cheaper than TDI since you don't need to do the fuel filter.
