It's a piece of angle iron mounted onto the headrest studs by two U-bolts. The angle iron is bent in the middle to point the camera downward. It does a pretty great job for $12, but at that it still doesn't have a great perspective of the road as, say, a gopro suctioned to the sunroof. I've actually upgraded the camera mount since yesterday by using a denser, spongier foam base (think copper pipe insulation), one less screw and one more washer to get a more firm purchase to the angle iron and I cut up that foam in the above pic to use as a wind guard on the mics. Better pics tomorrow but here's a bad pic in the meantime:
The event is an autocross at The Tire Rack in South Bend, IN. I'll post video when I have it!
I've actually got a good thing going bringing a couple buckets full of water and water+soap to that coin wash. Car stays cleaner for longer that way :iono:

Autocross at the Tire Rack this morning. Overall, it was a shitton of fun. Only $40 too which was awesome. Met a bunch of car guys, appreciated cars with them :wub:. In fact I liked working the field just as much as driving, because I was just watching cool cars oversteering and making good noises. Even the stock Dart sounded good.
As far as my driving, well, I wasn't on top of my game, but wasn't too bad. I didn't have a laser focus that gave me the great connection with the car. I was pedal mashing and coasting a lot, and in general I didn't have the best sense for my line. Certainly I wasn't looking far enough down the track. But all is well - I had fun and besides spilling some brake fluid out the top of the reservoir the car and tires are in excellent shape.

Nope no idea. A lot of GTI's run STX but I don't know what qualifies them to be in there?

Just got some Mother's Wash And Wax. Apparently it has carnauba wax in it. Didn't really feel like a freshly waxed surface, nor did it bead like one. It also doesn't fill in the small scratches like a real wax would. It dues have a nice shine, but unless it starts to fill the tiny scratches over time and more applications I think I'll try something else.
