MK6 GTI Rear Seat Delete Weight Chart

Yeah frees up space, and weight. Plus the "rear seats" are all but useless for normal size people at least in the 2 door.

The 2 door is exactly the same size as the 4 door.

You must sit very far back or are exaggerating lol. In my car I sit comfortably in the front and there is a ton of leg room for the back.

If you want to see useless rear seats, see an Audi TT coupe.

If you are going to for horrendous back seats, I'll see your Audi TT Coupe and raise you Nissan 240 S14 rear seats :D

A friend helped me take the rear seat out. We spent most of the time trying to get the 10mm triple square bit out of the hole I dropped it in. doh!

Here are my findings:

Rear Seat Back (Large) 38.2 lbs.
Rear Seat Back (Small) 13.2 lbs.
Rear Seat (Bench) 11.4 lbs.
Tonneau Cover 4 lbs.
False Floor 5 lbs.
16" spare wheel 37 lbs.
Foam Surround/Tools 9.6
Misc brackets/hardware .6 lbs.

Total: 119 lbs.

Time for the track! :)

Yeah frees up space, and weight. Plus the "rear seats" are all but useless for normal size people at least in the 2 door. i'm 6'2" and the only human that could sit behind me would be in a car seat lol, and since I don't have kids might as well loose some unneeded weight.

im 6'4 and while cleaning my 2dr gti i sat in the rear seat and fit quite comfortably...

Gonna bump this back up in hopes of anyone knowing about a template or any more info on a custom hatch floor.

I'm not interested in weight reduction, but in storage space, so I would like to install a completely flat, rugged surface for easily sliding lots of equipment in and out. I plan on building a plywood floor, but was curious about stabilizing it and whether or not it's necessary to remove the spare tire and it's housing.

is it possible to just remove just the back part and just leave the part were you sit? im looking to install the xb unibrace but would like to just remove the part where you put your back on. I have kids and need to take it out for track then back in when I get the kids
