Koby's Attempt At A Build Thread

JKoby123

Ready to race!
Hey all!

So, this is my "Build Thread." I have no idea what I'm doing here, so try to bare with me. Without further ado:

This is my baby:

Obviously, she's a 2DR TR 6MT, with Sunroof, Bluetooth, and Monster Mats. I got her in September of 2010. She was a dealer trade with 330 miles on her. I bought her at invoice. She also happens to be my first car!

Shortly after purchasing, I bought and installed a Neuspeed SS kit:

http://www.redline-motorworks.com/Neuspeed_Short_Shift_Kit_Mk5_Mk6_GTI_6_Speed_p/66.10.94.htm

Next, and as seen in the pictures, were the tints. I ordered Lamin-X headlights and Taillight tint covers. "Gunsmoke" tails and "Tint" headlights:

I drove her faithfully in that state for roughly 29,000 miles. Now, I just can't wait any longer to start seriously modding. I am a full time college student, so I'm not sure how quickly this will progress. None the less, here is the current status.

Recently, I ordered Matte Black 18" VMR v708's. They are unconditionally gorgeous, and have sat in my bedroom untouched for a few weeks awaiting both tires and fairer weather. Tomorrow they will, hopefully, be going on! Here is a picture of them:

Also, I JUST ordered a full Eurojet TBE from forum member U-20T. (Shoutout for the hookup!) Also just ordered color matched side markers and tinted fog lights!

Hopefully those will be in and installed soon. Yeah, I think that's it so far.

Here is what I have planned:

APR Stage 2 ECU Software
APR Stage 1 Intake
APR Stage 2 Intake
Engine Cover DIY
MAYBE a Drop?

Thanks for reading! I'll keep this updated! :happyanim:

Appointment made to go Stage two. Does anyone have any advice for supporting mods that will help longevity? I know a clutch is gonna be a must. However, a catch can, engine mounts, etc?

Hey guys! Sorry about the wait. In all honesty, I've been lazy about taking pictures. Anyway, here is my car with the wheels on it. Big shout out to VMR for such a great deal! Enjoy!

Don, these are for you, specifically!

Looks great!

Keep us updated on the tune :)

As for supporting mods, you should definitely get the clutch and I'm not to sure about the weather where you are but, an Intercooler upgrade is always a great support for stage 2 and all future performance mods

Thanks for the kind words! Yeah, the clutch is an inevitability. I definitely have to budget for it. As for the tune, I'm excited. The only thing is that I won't have is an intake. Just the TBE and the tune. Obviously, the intake is next. I just don't want to miss the APR sale. (If there is one.)

I'm hoping that missing the intake won't be a such a huge deal for a few weeks.

Intercooler, huh? I didn't think that I'd have to do that, being in Upstate NY. The weather gets hot and humid in the summer, but we have winter or average temperatures 8-10 months of the year.

Update:

Kind of rethinking my tuning philosophy. The more I learn about Revo, the more I like it.
I'm gonna contact them to see where the closest experienced dealer is. Anyone have any experience around the CNY area in tuning with Revo?

Alright. Got on the stick today. My TBE should be here on Friday. My girlfriend bought me an intake for my birthday!

I also made the stage 2 appt for next Friday! Couldn't miss the APR sale!

Excited for the coming weeks!
