NEW OE intake for TSI/EA888

Many aftermarket intakes are known to plunder power and cause several other issues.

Somtimes better to go with OE parts. There's a "hot climate" intake/filter enclosure,
that can be easily adapted to the TSI/EA888 engine (late Mk.V GTI, all Mk.VI GTI):

Luftführung 1K0 805 962 D
Deckel Luftführung 1K0 805 965 G
Luftfilterkasten 1K0 129 607 AC

total 130 €

- Still not proven on EA113/TFSI engines, currently EA888/TSI only.

- There's some noticable gain particularly at the top end.

Hm. This might be what I've been looking for.

Don't want the warranty hassle, but do want an OE look, and some improved performance. The number of twists and turns the stock intake makes is absolutely ridiculous.

Bruce, could we get some translations on what's been posted in that thread you linked to?

All parts except the last one can be found on ECS. I'm just still not sure how this all goes together.

There's another thread on this German Scirocco forum:

From what I gathered up two or three guys already did this mod.
Waiting for a more complete review. I'll keep you informed.

ps:
Earlier Scirocco 2.0 TSI came with the same EA888 engine as late
model Mk.V GTI, current Scirocco 2.0 TSI have the same EA888
as Mk.VI GTIs.

I think i'm confused on where it is getting the cold air... it looks to me like it's taking in the hot air from the engine area instead of the air coming in from the intake inlet.

It's taking air directly from the front grill and going straight, down and up into the intake box. It is traveling a MUCH shorter distance. I just noticed that the size of this piping is much smaller than the US spec intake. So shorter difference + smaller volume for air flow (I think).

So, I suppose the real question is, how would we in the states acquire that block off plate?

This is really interesting. I wonder if we can retrofit a wider flat filter, mounted at an angle within the box. That would make for better flowing, OEM looking intake that pulls cold air.

Still kinda annoyed that my VF IATs are 35C+. With the stock intake I was down around 27C in 6th at 65. That'd be 37-39C with the VF.
