Hit an average size pothole last night and bent my 3 week old 18" VMR v710 front driver wheel.. I can not put into words how disgusted I am right now. I never even had a chance to wash them before they were damaged... I am pretty upset at the quality of the wheels right about now.. I have had countless different wheels on multiple vehicles and I have never suffered a bent rim.. Ever!! $800 for a set of wheels and they can't survive one impact of a routine pothole?? What now buy another poor quality wheel at full price that's just gonna bend again? I am just so disappointed that my wheel is ruined.

I mean I drive carefully and I always pay attention to potholes but sometimes things are unavoidable. So what happens now, I live in fear of driving on my new wheels because I might bend another wheel while driving?? I mean this is crazy? What kind of quality are these things? I love the look of the wheels but if this is how they are gonna respond to hitting a small pothole forget it I will junk these things in a heart beat.. If your thinking about buying these things; don't!! Save your money for better quality wheels. I wish I did. I am not trying to bash VMR just upset and want to know how many others have had this prob?

Has anyone had this problem with these wheels before? By the looks of my wheels after 800 miles and 3 weeks on the car there must be a lot.

I hit huge pot holes on my old Avant Garde and never bent or chipped them. I guess not all cheap wheels are created equal.

I honestly just feel like I wasted my money on these wheels. I mean as you can see the tire is fine.. No bubble no damage.. I'm just astounded and upset. I mean anything I can do? Any warranty or guarantees.. Damn gotta be something I can do..

I NAIL shit with my 710's and have never had any sort of issue. I live in Cleveland, where the roads are the worst I have ever seen...and I drive a lot. I've even ran them on the same soft sidewall rs3-a's that you have in your picture.

Either you hit a man hole, or maybe there was a casting defect?

Edit: how is your tire pressure? Was that one low by chance? What of you run them at? The factory spec'ed 38psi?

Damn dude, that's a bummer. I've slammed into some potholes pretty hard and haven't had any issues with my V710's yet. Maybe there was a factory defect or you hit something a little more intense than your standard pothole? Either way, sorry to hear. I'd contact VMR and see if there's anything they can do considering how new they are.

Pobody's Nerfect.
$800 for 4 new wheels? I think I see the problem...

Just buy another $200 wheel and be more careful.

Always a bummer to see. :(

AG uses a different (better) casting process

Just buy another $200 wheel and be more careful.

Agreed. Your cheapest and easiest option.

I can't believe you guys are acting like 800 bucks is a cheap set of wheels. Sure, they aren't CCW's or HRE's, but they also aren't $400 Alzors or random rep website wheels. VMR has a good name pretty much everywhere, and are on the highest end of "cheap wheels" that there is.

I've been running V710s for almost 2 years now and haven't bent a wheel yet... That pot hole must have been bigger then you realized. You also have to consider how fast you were traveling when you hit... All I can is that I feel for You, that really Suxs.

I think you would have to replace the wheel. I am not sure if it will be dis colored a little if you try to get it straighten. Regardless it sux! Good luck.

I forgot to mention I am running 19s....

Really glad to hear you have the same setup and tires as me.. I run the psi at 37 psi all around.. I swear this was no manhole, honestly I remember hitting a pot hole but not something I even thought was remotely a problem.. I felt it but I wasnt like oh f#?k that was bad.. Average size pothole.. Actually first one I hit and it's bent.. It makes me think this was a factory cast defect problem as well..
