Hi,

I am new in this forum, i've just bought a Golf MK6 1.6 102 HP with 18" rims installed.

I want to change the 4 tires and i asked about go for 17" instead of 18", will i win in some points? (Fuel consumption, tires lifetime...).

Thanks.

In my opinion, even the GTI should have come with 17" wheels, it would be a better car. If you have the chance to go to a 17" wheel I'd jump on it. You'll have more (less expensive) tire options, the ride will be nicer, if the wheels are lighter you may see better acceleration, and fuel economy (probably won't be significant). I'd do it.

Ok, thanks.
What about tires liftime, does 18" have less liftime than 17" in the same condition?
Thanks.

Hi,

Another point, do you think that choosing 205 50 R17 over 225 45 R17 may improove fuel economy and acceleration?

Thanks.
