Hi everyone! Iā€™ve recently bought a VW golf estate (variant) mk6. Now this isnā€™t just any old golf estate - itā€™s a Japanese import 2.0tsi with the GTI engine with 12k miles on the clock. I believe itā€™s a sport edition of sorts with Ronal vw gti alloys, full heated leather etc with 6speed dsg box.

I believe this model was only made for the Japanese market as Europe could only get the 1.2 and 1.4 tsi not forgetting diesel models(please correct me if Iā€™m wrong). As my manual and everything else is in Japanese, Iā€™m wondering if anyone else has one of these and can help with sourcing spares? Iā€™m assuming brakes etc will be off a golf gti mk6 but I literally cannot find any info on this car. I assume it takes the same oil as the gtiā€¦ who knows?? I guess Iā€™m hoping that someone else has one and has a complete list of spares and part numbers šŸ™šŸ». I love the car and goes like šŸ’© off a shovel. Happy to answer any questions on my new purchase but please be gentle as Iā€™m new to the forum šŸ˜˜.

You can go by engine type to answer your question. Any EA888 uses 0w40 or similar full synthetic oil. It'll have the VW code on the back typically and be dubbed "euro blend" or some shit depending on the brand you buy. As far as brakes go, that's a tough question, but I would try to locate the part# on the front and rear calipers to give you a better idea. I imagine if the calipers are red, they're from the GTI parts bin, but that's not always the case. Knowing the part# will help you determine pad and rotor size pretty easily though.

Wow, nice find, guess the UK has a bit more lax import laws for obvious reasons, we couldn't get one of those in the states until like 2040 LMAO

Agree with Ryan, anything that generation should take VW 502 in Xw-40 use 5 or 0 depending on your climate. There should be a sticker under the hood with the oil spec or you could try to translate the manual I suppose, in this day and age probably not to hard.

And as you said, that is rare and unlikely to find anyone with a full parts list, you get to be the pioneer. I would start with getting the part numbers off the calipers as Ryan said, and get the numbers off the suspension and cradle as well while there, just start documenting.

Sorry to be so green, what would I use in the uk, 5 or 0 šŸ˜‚
It boils down to the brand of oil. Mobile 1 should be over there so you'll want to find this weight.

And you'll be looking for specifics for VW whether 503 or 505. You'll see where this is highlighted in red below. So start by looking for a full synthetic oil specifically for european cars. Then check the back for these details.

@Charlie123; nice car. The alloys are 17ā€ VW Classix; in the UK they were the standard alloys on the mk5 Golf GT hatch (I had them on my mk5 GT 170ps diesel). I donā€™t think they were ever fitted to the GTI; standard alloys on the UK spec mk5 and mk6 Golf GTI were 17ā€ Monza alloys with an 18ā€ diamond cut version available as an extra cost option.

Sorry, canā€˜t help with your query on sourcing parts. It might be worth checking out some of the mk6 Golf owner groups on social media or finding a good VW independent specialist in your area who might be able to help.

Stateside, the MKV GTI had the option of the 17" classix or the 18" huffs

Yes, agree.

The OP is in the UK, and Classix alloys werenā€™t available on UK spec GTIā€˜s. As said, they were the standard alloy on the UK spec GT model though.

All of that UK specific stuff gets thrown out the window since OP imported this car from japan.
