How does AFS work on the GTI?

I searched this forum but could not find any relevant information, so here goes...

I understand that AFS (Adaptive Front-lighting System) swivels the headlights according to the steering angle.

I tried it this evening. This is how I did the experiment.

  1. Parked the car, gear in P.
  2. Applied the handbrake.
  3. Turned the steering wheel all the way to the left.
  4. Got out of the car and looked at the headlights.

The low beams did not look like they were swivelled to the left at all.

Did I do it wrong? Or is the system broken? I made sure the "Corner Lighting" setting was enabled on the onboard computer.

Thanks!

It's in the manual, it turns on above around 6mph until like 37mph if i remember correctly

Ah, thanks!

Excuse: I usually read the manual. This is one of the few times when I'm too lazy to do so! ;)

I really wish VW published the manuals in PDF...

They do as I've said in the electronic power steering topic. ;)

Yeah, I got the set of documents, but I don't think it includes the owner's manuals. We may have different sets...

I was joking about the owners manual part. I see you've found the others. ;)
