Hello,
Did my first oil change at 5,100 miles and the drain plug was very difficult to remove. After removal, inspection revealed some of the threads gouged on one side. Called my dealer and we agreed for me to finish the job with the same plug and bring the car in for service asap.
Turns out the plug was over torqued at the factory. My dealer cleaned the threads inside the oil pan, replaced the plug, and replaced the oil.
Downside is the wasted oil and a few hours of my time. Upside is my dealer was excellent in squeezing me for service and documenting my concern as a factory issue. Still no leaks after a couple of hundred miles, and I'll have this rechecked at my 10K service.
I've never had this issue with a new car. Hopefully none of you will either.
Cheers,
MMD
