Too bad it's likely a huge pain to retrofit Climatronic even if one managed to get the parts. :( The 2010 GTI Climatic panel is pretty easy to add on the later MK6 models though and I've been happy...

For me it was a low coolant warning on the dash. I don't remember seeing any drips beforehand, though that likely could have been the case.

Getting my car's timing cover and turbo cutoff valves replaced right now and I'm running stock tune. Not sure if that counts as mechanical though since the car only leaked oil.

Heh, I just had the button replaced by the dealer today. Wish I knew about the DIY sooner but $165ish parts+labor for the thing isn't too bad compared to what others were being quoted. :)
