R due for it's first service-some questions...

Well guys my R is nearing the 15K mark which equals service time. I would naturally just take it to my dealer as possibly they know more about the car than anyone?-and are best qualified to service it? It being a new model they may also be privvy to VW insider info re things to look for/adjust/fix/replace etc.

Or, I could take it to a euro performance type place who also know their stuff (assuming they are experienced with VW, Audi etc)

the ace I'm thinking is in Sydney (BWA AUTO) as they are well known and have the intake I want to get fitted-they're an evons dealer. But I hesitate as the R is a new model and my R will most likely be the first they've seen and aren't privvy to the service regime that VW will be.

I'd love your thoughts on this and any information you might have on what's involved with R first service including what oil they'll use.

Thanks guys!

I'd take it to the dealer. This could potentially save you a headache when it comes to warranty work.

For 1st servicing, I would suggest to take it to the dealer. I agree with TDI110 regarding warranty issues. I just sent my car for servicing eventhough it''s only on 3.8k KM. That's because, i'm goin to fit my APR intercooler, BSH throtle body pipe and few other things. I'm currently using Castrol Edge 10W-40 .

Isn't it free labor charges at the dealer for 1st servicing anyways?

G'day mate...

yea i reckon taking it to the dealers would be the best thing to do for the first few services. Dun mind my top mate Formula 14 who's an ex-Syd boy... reckon he and I are spoilt with the luxuries of bullying the dealerships here in Brunei... then again its just me cos the owner of VW and I are mates. :fighting0030:

The Castrol Edge sport 5 - 40 isnt a bad oil though my preference of oil would be the OWS Turbo Racing oil 5-50 or the new formula 5 - 60... not because i am selling it but because its a good oil that my rev head mates in Singapore and Melb who track their car highly recommend and swear by it. I'm also using thier NA oils in my E92 M3 and in two of the tuned R8s with no dramas. In aus its called Syntholube TXI xtreme 5W60... if you do purchase this oil ensure that the lads give you the free engine flush, engine protector and fuel treatment solutions FOC.

Hope all goes well...

Hi guys,

Thanks for your replies. I am gonna go against the grain as I've done a bit of reserach and there's a few specialist VW/Audi places that are more than capable-they have access to all the factory info, service regimes etc and of course are all able to carry out log book servicing without voiding the warranty.

I am having the service and some sort of flash done at the same time-haven't as yet decided as there ar a few options each with their pros and cons but revo is looking pretty good.

Anyways, i am sure they'll do a good job but if anything stuffs up I'll let you all know.

cheers guys and thanks for your input!
