Mine has appeared loose since day 1. I will eventually get around to pulling it off and measuring it to find a replacement.
I've had it fall off once (had to pull the skidplate to retrieve it), but otherwise I'm just careful when emptying the can. I put a rag down under the can when removing to keep the ring from falling all the way down if it were so inclined.

I ordered 4 different O rings from McMaster, and am in the process of testing each one out.
I will post my results when I finish with the fourth one in a few weeks or so.
