I wonder what the cost would be compared to the Audi RS3? Cuz if there isnt much difference i'd rather get the RS3

Just received a call...

from a salesman at VW. He said he heard this from his manager that the R may launch this spring, I've heard this before back in December and it was shot down as simply not true.

So, take this with a grain of salt...it's just what I've heard.

Launch is correct, should debut at the Detroit Auto show,
event launch will be spring 2012, with some early adopters available 12/2011

there are several hoping to have ordering information by March.

RS3 is most likely going to start in the 50 grand range. Honestly you could make a golf R ($35k) faster than the RS3 with $5k, only difference is the engine sounds brutal as shit in the Audi, which I wouldnt justify 15k for that.

If I had the money, I would look into it... the sound it makes is bonerific.

Its not something you hear every day, all i hear are 4, 6, and 8 cyls. turbo 5 pots just have this special sound.
