Rear bumper cover OEM matching drop replacement vs Respraying Old Cover

Hi all,

I have damaged my rear bumper cover and so I tried to see how much it would cost to repaint it at body shop. I got quoted $700 to repaint the hole thing which is a lot. I'm also wondering if I order a OEM with factory from ebay and just buff/polish its clear coat and install it. A good bumper would be 300-450 on ebay. Will the later option be a problem matching my car's paint. I have a black pearl MK6 GTI. Any thought on this would be much appreciated.

How badly is your bumper damaged?
Why does the shop need to repaint the entire thing instead of just blending a small spot?

The body shop thinks it’s will not come cleaner as spraying the hole thing.

Pics of bumper?
I haven't dealt with pre-painted replacement products but its always a risk as it may not match.
Most people would recommend going to a shop but 700 is a bit high for that work imo.

Without out pics it's hard to know if the price is high.
Painting the whole bumper is the proper procedure, base color over the repaired area then clear coat over the entire bumper. Open blends are short cuts and usually fail in the long term.
