VWR subframe mount install help

Upgrading subframe mounts & subframe bolt information

Anyone with experience installing the VWR subframe pucks, does the subframe has to be removed from the vehicle? The directions say to press the puck in, but seeing as it is metal on the outside, I do not see how it could deform.

Which leads me to believe it should slide right in.
Some thread searching has some folks installing it, but their subframe was already off the vehicle.

I am wondering, if we just lower it so we can remove the old top mount if the new one will slide right in? Like when you do a front sway bar install, the subframe is lowered but not entirely removed from the vehicle.
We are doing this on jackstands, so leverage is limited.

This may be the closest to what I am looking for. Anyone can confirm more recently? I swear every time I read you don't need a press, another thread makes it seem like you do.

Thanks.

EDIT: More searching, has me turning this into a compilation thread. For all future persons interested in this mod, the information will be here.

Update: Here is the subframe diagram below. In order to remove the subframe and place the mount, it appears that this list of bolts needs to be removed and replaced. Ignore the numbers written on the sheet. The correct list is here.
---
If replacing dogbone
29 - N91167101 (1x)- M10x35 [Dogbone specific] (034 motorsports states 45Nm with blue loctite)
28 - N91066101 (1x)- M10x75 [Dogbone specific] (034 motorsports states 45Nm with blue loctite)
30 - N10558002 (1x)- M14x1.5x70 [This one goes through the 2 subframes and the pendulum] torque 50nm (note 034 motorsports calls for 100nm w/ blue loctite. Note sure, probably depends on aftermarket or not)

If doing the Tyrolsport deadset kit
33,34 - N91039802 (4x)- M12x1.5x90 torque 70nm
35 - ARP bolts supplied (2x) torque 85nm
Note: Some sources replace 34 with the OEM passat bolts N90823501 M12x1.5x110 torque 70nm

Directly unbolting the subframe
subframe to body bolts with 18mm socket 70nm
subframe/suspension bolts with 16mm socket 50nm
sway bar bracket bolts 13mm socket 30nm
5 - N10528602 (2x) M12x1.5x75
6 - N91073401 (4x) M8x75 torque 30nm
(6) - N10579702 (3x) M10x76
Note 35 is done here as well. I have it listed under the dead set section though (2x)

Extra information listed. Not necessary but useful for later
31 - N10579702 (4x) M10x76 torque 50nm
2x N10141003 - Front LCA Bolt18mm
6x N10332002 nut for LCA

-LCA change out
Part #s
2x N10141003 - Front LCA Bolt18mm
4x N10579702 - Rear LCA Bracket Bolt Inside 16mm
2x N91039802 - Rear LCA Bracket Bolt Outside 18mm

Installation
1. Removed the 3 ball joint nuts (16mm)
2. Removed the front LCA bolt (18mm)
3. Removed the rear LCA bracket (1x 18mm, 2x 16mm)
4. Lube bushings with supplied lithium grease, or your own choice of lithium grease
5. Slide in rear LCA bracket onto the control arm

Thread in the bolts loosely before torquing to specification, so you'll have a little more wiggle room trying to line things up.

6. Install/mount up the rear LCA bracket (1x 18mm, 2x 16mm)
a. 18mm - 52ft/lb + 1/4 turn
b. 16mm - 37ft/lb + 1/4 turn
7. Install/mount up front LCA bolt (18mm)
a. 18mm - 52ft/lb + 1/2 turn
8. Install/mount up the 3 ball joint nuts. (3x 16mm)
a. 16mm - 74ft/lb
9. Check/Tighten all bolts with torque specs

I have the vibratechnics mount which is essentially a rubber version of the vwr. The steering rack motor was in the way of getting the upper mount in for me. So the subframe has to come down. Mine tapped in easily with a rubber mallet. No press required.

The correct way to do it would be to remove the subframe and use a press. The top puck would be impossible to install without dropping the subframe.
Just to be sure I have my terms correct, dropping means unbolting it like the deadset kit?
Or does it mean removing it off the body fully?

Just need to know how many more stretch bolts I need to buy.

Update: talking to ecs and looking at my part diagram, this is my plan of attack for which bolts need to be undone and replaced in this process.
Let me know if it is missing anything. Bolts mostly taken from ecs part kit: https://www.ecstuning.com/Volkswagen-Golf_VI--2.0T/ES2594692/
and tyrolsport deadset install.

He's not removing all that. He's just circling the bolts that are needed for the job which is have the end result of your picture. :)

I already did the deadset kit. After reviewing your part diagram below, I wanted to point out 2 things.
Bolts 3-8 in this picture are in the subframe and I will have to replace. Bolts 1 & 2 you replace with the deadset kit, which I already did. So I will not have to replace I do not think again.

Second thing is the two small unlabeled bolts between bolt 2 and 8 in your picture. They are bolt 31 in the first part diagram labeled above, part number N10579702. There are 4 of those (2 each side) and I think the need to be removed to get the subframe piece off.

1. Correct. Part #’s 3-8 are in the thread posted before. Bolt #8 is a deadest though. Those parts plus the dogbone/pendulum bolts cost $30.80 from VW. Since you’re not touching the other deadest bolts you do not have to replace them.

2. Those bolts do not need to be replaced. Take a look at this picture to get an idea.
