I wanted to! But I was scared of safety and resale when cutting the bumper. That and I got a huge deal on my neuspeed
I'm gonna have to DISAGREE. Besides the ETS I am currently using, I have used one from PWR (on another turbo setup). If the intercooler has an efficient flowing core, it will cool better than others that aren't as efficient.
They don't have to pay engineers much to develop FMICs. The cores themselves are off-the-shelf units from manufacturers around the world. It's just a matter of endtank design and mounting to the application. If it sells they'll keep making them. It's the SMICs that require actual heat exchanger design, since it's sitting behind a radiator and more susceptible to doing more harm than good.^agree with turbo. I do see how a shallower IC would cool quicker, however Idk why so many aftermarket companies would pay engineers to design more FMICs, if they were subpar.
In general, deep intercoolers are not very efficient.

All else being equal it's true. As the ambient air travels through the core it picks up heat so the heat exchange rate drops towards the back of the core.
That's not to say it still won't work well but excessive core thickness is usually a packaging compromise. If they want to make a FMIC that fits below the stock crash bar there is only so much room. They can't use a taller core so they use a thicker one.
nvturbo, do you mind sharing your parts list for your intercooler, definitely interested!

^^^this please, I'd be very interested as well.
Any modifications needed to fit?
Keep stock Intercooler in place or remove?
Thanks ahead of time.
+1 for the pics...you should send those to Michael to see if he might be interested in making a kit for our cars
Thank you for the break down and pics, very neat.
