I find it amazing that someone would buy a car without considering the maintenance costs as part of the price of owning a vehicle. If you have a DSG equipped car, yes, it's going to cost to have it serviced unless you have the knowledge, tools and wherewithal to do it yourself. Even a manual tranny is going to require clutch plates and springs eventually... once again, it's just the price of normal maintenance. Trade it in for what? Another car that is going to have it's own maintenance costs.
