Anybody regret buying a GTI for a daily driver?

That is an absolutely insane amount of oil consumption, my car has 137k miles and consumes about 1 quart every ~7-8k miles, which is pretty reasonable to me.



Part of your oil consumption was most likely the IE catch can (africa plate leads to a lot of oil loss), but yeah, sounds like your motor was not that happy before it let go.

I do my oil changes every 3k-4k, and by measuring it I consume around half a quart .

I recently went from a super stiff Mk2 VR6 to a bagged/Stage 2 mk6 GTI and I do not regret it at all. I almost feel spoiled and undeserving to have jumped so many generations haha. The mk6 with the bags is super comfy and gets way better gas mileage than my VR6 did (obviously). The previous owner of the mk6 is a good friend of mine so I know it has been well taken care of. A lot of the maintenance was already done so driving the mk6 is stress-free compared to the mk2.
