Just purchased MKVl, I want to start doing mods so I want to start with the exhaust. Wht would be the best downpipe exhaust setup?

Depends on what you're looking for, honestly.

I like a high flow cat paired with a resonated and muffled exhaust for that almost-stock-until-stepped-on sound. Other folks like straight pipes all the way back.

The best downpipe is one that fits and is cheap.

I agree, but I don't want to spend money on something tht will not last. I want to do this once and have reliablity

unless youre buying it out of some dudes van, any downpipe will be reliable and last. They arent a working mechanical piece of machinery it is literally a pipe of steel.

the only real differences between brands will be fitment and thickness of the steel. the cheapest downpipes will sound more tinny due to thin metal while the more expensive ones will sounds a little deeper due to thicker metal

I agree. I had a Beluga DP on my car for about 3 years and when I removed it there was no issues with it. Granted, I didn't live in colder climates.
