i don't remember having to bend them in. from what i recall, i felt like i just lined it up. then again, its been around 6 months since i did it.

man, that is real sucky right ther. hope you get it done. if you're still having issues, let me know i'll take mine apart real quick to see how i got it back in, the first time.just like if you don't get it the first time pretty good chance it is fucked and won't align properly. I have gone through several. Sick of all the shitty plastic tabs and other cheap crap that strips so easily.

Don't know if its been mentioned but, you can easily remove the wiper arm with a terminal puller.
sorry to bump this old thread, but i was just checking to make sure things are the same for the mk6 as they are for the mk5 which it appears they are.
a tip: when you take the nut off the wiper arm, turn it upside down and re-thread on about 2 threads. then take a pair of pliers and squeeze the wiper to the nut. pops it loose easily. i've done 3 mkv's using this technique.
